How metal objects can throw you off your true reading

Taking a compass reading near metal objects and also magnetic object can seriously alter the reading you get from your compass, the magnetic tip can be drawn to the metal object and also either drawn to or repelled against a magnetic surface which can alter the results dramatically.

When taking a compass reading, please be sure to remove all jewellery and avoid all metal objects near you.
